East Midlands based photographer Lesley Saunders has developed her art by traveling the world. Her photography clearly reflects her love of people and diverse cultures.
Lesley has exhibited her pictures across the world, with her body of work, ‘The Real Women of India’ being shown in Bangalore and New Delhi before moving to Mayfair, London and finally her hometown of Nottingham.
This exhibition led to a further commission from the Nandi Foundation who work closely with the tribal people of India to improve their quality of life.
By honing her trade in challenging locations, Lesley has developed a style which uses light and composition to deliver images which are truly awe inspiring.
She has used these skills to set up her own studio, equipped to the highest standard, allowing her to make the most of every commission she works on.
A quick look through her portfolio reveals just how flexible Lesley is. Whether she is shooting garden furniture or make up, musicians or models, Lesley brings her attention to detail into every shot. Each shot is meticulously set up and taken to deliver great results straight from the camera.
But central to every shot Lesley takes is the people, whether you are the client commissioning the images or you are the subject. Lesley works with you to build rapport, put you at your ease and really understand what you want to get out of her images.
Lesley is one of those rare new breed of photographers who values the skills of the traditional film photographer whilst embracing the freedom that digital delivers.
Surprisingly, Lesley only took up photography in 2007, as a hobby whilst working in Business Development with a multinational conglomerate. She then met Anand Sharan, who taught her and helped her to hone her skills. He also exposed Lesley to all the richness and colour of the real people of India, the spark of inspiration that was to lead to Lesley’s future career and international reputation.
Lesley has contributed to many magazines and was a regular columnist for Asian Photography and Imaging.
Lesley is a member of the Royal Photographic Society, and graduated from college with a Foundation degree in photography. She is also now passing on her skills to new photographers through her studio based clubs and courses, take a look at her studio website to find out more.
Lesley is as at home in her studio or out on location. So whatever you are looking for, corporate or personal, Lesley would love to hear from you.
